Reading services offered for school-aged and adolescents are individualized depending on each child’s needs. Whether you are concerned about your child achieving reading skills at grade level or the possibility of dyslexia, our trained staff can help. We combine and tailor programs including Orton-Gillingham- a multi-sensory and balanced approach to phonics and reading, Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing (LiPS), Visualizing and Verbalizing for Language Comprehension, and more in order to provide well rounded literacy instruction.

Our comprehensive language-based assessments can be tailored to fit your child’s individual needs but in order to identify underlying areas of strength and weakness as they relate to language and literacy. Our therapists involved with the assessment and intervention processes include

-Wendy Blumenthal, Ph.D., our Psychologist who conducts psychoeducational evaluations to further identify your child’s I.Q. and cognitive skills underlying the processes of learning and reading. Evaluations also include assessment of visual spatial skills for reading and develop a plan for supporting attention and behavior for academic learning if warranted.

-Alissa Belmont, M.S. CCC-SLP attended comprehensive Orton-Gillingham training through the institute for multi-sensory education, IMSE. As a speech and language pathologist Alissa combines principles of structured reading approaches along with specialized support for language skills to improve language and literacy across both oral and written language domains.

These therapists work closely with parents to improve literacy in the clinic as well as to provide creative solutions for supporting literacy at home.
